Learn the importance of local and sustainable food and how to not only start today but also to inform and influence your friends and family.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;PRESENTATION BY KATHY LAWRENCE, 5:30PM to 7:30PM&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kathy Lawrence, founder of Just Food and on the cutting-edge of the food justice movement, will enlighten us and bring us up-to-date with the benefits and risks of where, what and how food is grown, produced, distributed, accessed and shared fairly across all socio-economic groups&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"&gt;.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial;"&gt;She will discuss the implications of sustainable agriculture in a local community, share her experiences and insights into increasing the availability of local food into large school districts and college campuses, and draw connections in the struggle for just access to healthy food for all races and economic classes (where food moves from being used as a tool of oppression to a tool for liberation)&amp;nbsp;in CSB Auditorium from 5:30PM to 7:30PM.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;THE DOCUMENTARY&amp;nbsp;&lt;i&gt;FRESH&lt;/i&gt;, 8PM&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To round off the day we will meet at 8PM at the Honors Center to watch the documentary&amp;nbsp;&lt;i&gt;Fresh&lt;/i&gt;which offers a vision for a&amp;nbsp; future of our food and our planet by celebrating the farmers, thinkers and business people who are re-inventing our food system.&amp;nbsp;Also explored is the destructive nature of industrialized farming techniques.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 13.5pt;"&gt;WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial;"&gt;THE DOCUMENTARY&amp;nbsp;&lt;i&gt;LIVING DOWNSTREAM&lt;/i&gt;&amp;nbsp;WITH Q&amp;amp;A, 5PM&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial;"&gt;Wednesday the Environmental Task Force is featuring the documentary&amp;nbsp;&lt;i&gt;Living Downstream&lt;/i&gt;based on the book of the same title and about biologist, author, cancer survivor and expert on the environmental causes of cancer and reproductive problems, Dr. Sandra Steingraber. New York State has tremendous deposits of shale gas and the current extraction process of hydro-fracking creates pollution which is dangerous to the environment and public health. Dr. Steingraber writes of these connections as a scientist and personally as a thirty year survivor of bladder cancer having grown up in Illinois, a leading producer of hazardous waste, a heavy user of pesticides and home to an above-average number of Superfund sites. Friday's day of action revolves around research into the environmental consequences of fracking&amp;nbsp;on the water, air and soil. The showing is in&amp;nbsp;Lecture Center 100 at 5PM followed by a Q&amp;amp;A led by Dr. Al Konigsburg, associate professor, SUNY Geology, with local environmentalists.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;THE WATER DAY RECEPTION WITH LIVE MUSIC, 7PM to 10PM&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Water Day Reception starts at 7PM where Students for Fresh Water will&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 13.5pt;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial;"&gt;conduct a "Save Our Water" letter writing campaign to stop hydro-fracking along with live music by Kyle Miller, Godchilla and the Dreambats from 7PM to 10PM in SUB/ MPR.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 13.5pt;"&gt;THURSDAY, APRIL 28&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;WATCH FOR THE SOLAR CAR&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;FARMER'S MARKET, 10:30AM to 2:30PM&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;span style="color: black; font-family: Arial;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On Thursday start the day with a visit to the Framer's Market from 10:30AM to 2:30 PM in front of Humanities. Supplies will be provided.&amp;nbsp;We will be meeting at 1:30PM at the Quad&amp;nbsp; to march peacefully to the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) behind Shop Rite at 21 South Putts Road. The rally will start in front of the DEC at 2:30PM so you can also meet the marchers there. Bring instruments, banners and signs.
