SUSTAINABILITY FAIR LEARNING DAY, 11AM to 4PM
Monday, April 25, from 11AM to 4PM outside Humanities there will be tables and demonstrations as part of the Sustainability Fair Learning Day featuring each day's programs for participants to become familiar with the issues and explore which programs they would like to attend.
KEYNOTE ADDRESS BY DEENA WADE, 7PM to 9PM
Deena Wade, community organizer and creator of the Transition Film Series in Marbletown, will set the tone for the week's activities as she gives the Keynote Address, Ordinary Heroes: The Time Is Now in Lecture Center 102 from 7PM to 9PM. This is an opportunity to be inspired and empowered while considering the heroic actions, in large and small ways, of individuals working to create more sustainable, resilient and equitable communities, locally and globally. Examples will coincide with this week's variety of themed days and events to help lay a foundation for the week's activities. The two-hour Keynote will include several short film clips, interactive discussion, poetry, guided contemplation and original music by guitarist, singer and songwriter Bibi Farber.
TUESDAY, APRIL 26
WORKSHOP EXPLORING LOCAL FOOD, 2:30PM to 4PM
Tuesday the Sustainable Ag Club who have planned a day devoted to agriculture, food and social activism will lead a workshop Exploring Local Food in SUB 100 from 2:30PM to 4PM. Learn the importance of local and sustainable food and how to not only start today but also to inform and influence your friends and family.
PRESENTATION BY KATHY LAWRENCE, 5:30PM to 7:30PM
Kathy Lawrence, founder of Just Food and on the cutting-edge of the food justice movement, will enlighten us and bring us up-to-date with the benefits and risks of where, what and how food is grown, produced, distributed, accessed and shared fairly across all socio-economic groups.She will discuss the implications of sustainable agriculture in a local community, share her experiences and insights into increasing the availability of local food into large school districts and college campuses, and draw connections in the struggle for just access to healthy food for all races and economic classes (where food moves from being used as a tool of oppression to a tool for liberation) in CSB Auditorium from 5:30PM to 7:30PM.
THE DOCUMENTARY FRESH, 8PM
To round off the day we will meet at 8PM at the Honors Center to watch the documentary Freshwhich offers a vision for a future of our food and our planet by celebrating the farmers, thinkers and business people who are re-inventing our food system. Also explored is the destructive nature of industrialized farming techniques.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27
THE DOCUMENTARY LIVING DOWNSTREAM WITH Q&A, 5PM
Wednesday the Environmental Task Force is featuring the documentary Living Downstreambased on the book of the same title and about biologist, author, cancer survivor and expert on the environmental causes of cancer and reproductive problems, Dr. Sandra Steingraber. New York State has tremendous deposits of shale gas and the current extraction process of hydro-fracking creates pollution which is dangerous to the environment and public health. Dr. Steingraber writes of these connections as a scientist and personally as a thirty year survivor of bladder cancer having grown up in Illinois, a leading producer of hazardous waste, a heavy user of pesticides and home to an above-average number of Superfund sites. Friday's day of action revolves around research into the environmental consequences of fracking on the water, air and soil. The showing is in Lecture Center 100 at 5PM followed by a Q&A led by Dr. Al Konigsburg, associate professor, SUNY Geology, with local environmentalists.
THE WATER DAY RECEPTION WITH LIVE MUSIC, 7PM to 10PM
The Water Day Reception starts at 7PM where Students for Fresh Water will conduct a "Save Our Water" letter writing campaign to stop hydro-fracking along with live music by Kyle Miller, Godchilla and the Dreambats from 7PM to 10PM in SUB/ MPR.

On Thursday start the day with a visit to the Framer's Market from 10:30AM to 2:30 PM in front of Humanities. Meet and support the farmers who are growing our local food and learn about farming today in the 21st century.
TRANSITION MOVEMENT GEARED TO THE STUDENT LIFE & LIFE STYLE WITH TINA CLARKE, 2PM to 4PM
Tina Clarke, a popular speaker on energy and environmental issues, creative frugality, and social change, will bring us up-to-date on the Transition Movement. Having trained and advised over three dozen Transition Initiatives Tina's experiences and skills will benefit our campus community on a profound level as she shares with us. This will be a workshop geared to student life and life style from 2pm to 4pm in SUB 100 although anyone can attend. In the evening from 7pm to 9pm in CSB Auditorium there will be a second workshop for everyone on campus and in the community. Sponsored by the Zeitgeist Movement on campus.
EARTH DAY CARNIVAL, 5PM to 7PM
The Recycling Club will hold an Earth Day Carnival with environmentally-themed game booths staffed by student clubs and organizations on the SUB Concourse from 5PM to 7PM.

There will be a workshop geared to students from 2pm to 4pm in SUB 100. FRIDAY, APRIL 29
ACTION DAY MARCH AND RALLY TO THE DEC AGAINST FRACKING
Friday is Action Day and we will be rallying to protest hydraulic fracturing (hydro-fracking) in New York State. We will meet from 11AM to 1:30PM on the Quad in front of College Hall (SUB if raining) to make signs and write letters to our elected officials. Supplies will be provided. We will be meeting at 1:30PM at the Quad to march peacefully to the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) behind Shop Rite at 21 South Putts Road. The rally will start in front of the DEC at 2:30PM so you can also meet the marchers there. Bring instruments, banners and signs. The Climate Action Coalition of New Paltz will be co-sponsoring this with the Sustainable Living Collective.

From 4PM to 6PM there will be an Earth Day Festival at Hasbrouck Park.
